Jess Undecided originates from a whole lot of soul-searching the last couple years to find what I'm truly about, but what I've found is that you don't have to decide on just one thing to define who you are - you can be undecided

Hey beauties!

This is the 3rd edition of La Roche-Posay’s Become A Skin Checker campaign and I’m so happy to share why I think it is so important for you all to learn about this!

May was Melanoma Month to raise awareness of melanoma and other types of skin cancer, but why shouldn’t we care about our skin all year round? Especially with the sun finally coming out to play – it’s more important than ever to learn how to check the health of your skin!

Did you know that 90% of skin cancers are curable if detected early? And if you become a skin checker yourself, the chances of catching it early increases that much more. So, here are three simple steps to follow to learn how to monitor our moles and stay safe under the sun.

This summer, save your skin!

First – is to CHECK YOUR MOLES

Now the big question is - how?

Easy Peasy!

You follow the ABCDE method, to check your skin and the skin of loved ones on a regular basis.

The ABCDE method, developed in collaboration with global dermatologists, uses 5 characteristics of moles to pre-screen your skin to determine whether you need to see a dermatologist or not.

You just need to check your moles for any irregularities. With this method, each letter corresponds to an aspect of your moles you should pay attention to:

o   A is for asymmetry

o   B is for border

o   C is for colour

o   D is for diameter

o   E is for evolution

If any Canadians think that they may have suspicious moles after checking them with ABCDE method, they should book an appointment with their family physician or dermatologist at their earliest convenience.

You can get all the information on how the ABCDE methods as well as tips to be safe under the sun HERE

But hey, that’s not all. There’s more to healthy skin than healthy moles, right?

Step 2 is to: PROTECT YOUR SKIN

We want our skin to glow and be healthy, which means practicing safe skin suncare!

La Roche-Posay has created one of my favorite broad-spectrum sunscreens ever – their Anthelios line, which also happens to be the #1 recommended sun care by Canadian dermatologists and has the most-advanced UVA/UVB sun protection.

My favorite is their ultra-light lotion in 50 SPF because of how it feels like absolutely nothing when it sets and yet it is water resistant for 80 minutes and leaves the perfect matte finish to keep you looking fresh even on summer’s hottest days.

I also love their cute little ANTHELIOS XL Stick, which I use to touch up my face sun care protection and for my lips!

Lastly, step 3 is to: PLAY SAFE

La Roche-Posay has made playing safely in the sun so much more fun with their UV Patch! In partnership with their intuitive MY UV PATCH app, the patch educates you how to play safe in the sun. The UV patch monitors sun exposure in real-time and scans your UV exposure levels. The app also generates essential information on what behaviors to adopt and when and what type of protection to apply.

So now that you’re all properly equipped with how to save your skin – I hope you can all enjoy the beautifully sunny weather that the forecast predicts :) And keep checking this space for more skincare tips!
